My first try with electrostatic headphones and sounds awesome after 1 to 2 hours of “burn in” and testing with different recordings. I connected my single ended transformer headphone amplifier to the Hongshu energiser, via a simple 6.35 headphone jack to RCA cable, and it’s sounding super rich and holographic and enough “bass” for vocals and classical symphonic music. I want the best sound quality, so I am happy I don’t even need the bass switch with my setup. No hisses no hums, but just need to be careful testing the volume dials first time setup. Delivery from UK to Australia is 10 days including clearing customs, and well packaged. Thank you Elise Audio.
I wanted to buy a STAX system but high price tag put me off buying it. So I decided to try Hongshu Audio EH-1 kit. And I wasn't disappointed. Very good starter pack! Despite some minor drawbacks the sound is awesome straight out of the box! After EQ the tonal balance is perfect! Even sub-bass presents at normal level. The provided power supply is low quality, better to use other. LPS is recommended. The pads also are on the lower grade. The amplifier is very small but for my ears power is enough. The volume knob is around 2 o'clock position for my prefered listening audio level.
I really like this Headphone.
Sound is very open and with simple eq adjustment it takes out the best of the music.
First electrostat system for me and I love it!
I'm a long-time Stax owner. My reference for years has been an SR-Lambda Signature, so I came to the EH-1 with a clear idea of what an electrostatic should sound like. I ordered the system a little skeptically, thinking it would be a fun secondary headphone. It will become the one I reach for every day.
The sound is what a good electrostatic should be: fast, open, and effortless, with that airy top end and the sense that nothing is standing between you and the recording. What surprised me is how balanced it is. Electrostatics often lean thin or bright. The EH-1 doesn't. Bass is present and well controlled, mids are natural, and the treble is extended without any harshness. It's a headphone I can listen to for hours without fatigue.
Comfort is a big part of that. At 295 grams it disappears on the head in a way my Lambda never quite does. The clamp is a touch firm out of the box, but not enough to be a problem, and it's already easing with use.
I started with the included EHA-1 amp, which is very capable and makes this a complete system for the money. I've since moved the EH-1 over to a refurbished Stax SRM-1 Mk2, and it scales beautifully. The 580V Pro bias compatibility means it plugs straight into a standard Stax Pro socket with no adapters or guesswork, which for anyone already in the Stax world is a real advantage. On the SRM-1 the dynamics tighten up and the whole presentation gains a little more authority, but even the stock EHA-1 gives you the essential character.
If you've been curious about electrostatics and put off by the cost of entry, this is the answer. If you already own Stax and want something lighter for long sessions, it's an easy recommendation too. Highly recommended.

I’ve had Stax 009 and I prefer EH-1 as there more bass presence and higher volume over the Stax. Also big difference in price. These are a bargain at there price. You find them hard to beat.
